Warcraft Forever

FAQ — WoW: Forever, rules & this site

Updated 2026-09-14

Answers below are based on Blizzard's official Forever page, the panel recap, and Blizzard's published policies (EULA and in-game policies). Where Blizzard has said nothing yet about Forever specifically, we say so.

The game

Do I need to buy Forever? No. Forever is included with any active World of Warcraft subscription, on Windows and Mac. You get it alongside modern WoW and the other Classic games.

What do the paid editions add? The optional Skyborne Heroic Pack and Skyborne Epic Pack unlock the Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience, plus cosmetics. The limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection (BlizzCon 2026) bundles beta access, early name reservation, 30 days of game time, mounts, pets, tabards, housing decor, invite-a-friend launch codes and Warcraft III: Reforged — Forsaken Kingdom. Playing a Skyborne requires one of these packs.

When? Beta Sept 17 – Oct 22 (level cap 30), early name reservation and character creation Oct 27, launch Nov 4, 2026. Raids open Dec 9. See the roadmap.

Is it Classic Era with patches? No — it's a separate, permanent branch. Level cap stays 60 forever, no flying, no level scaling, and the story diverges from the original timeline.

Will my Classic Era / Anniversary characters transfer? Blizzard has not announced any transfer, clone or boost into Forever. Assume a fresh start.

Is there Hardcore? Yes — Forever Hardcore launches in winter 2026/27.

Which languages / regions? Same as WoW: Americas, Europe, Korea, Taiwan and China regions with the usual client languages. Server lists come with the name-reservation window.

Which server should I roll on? None — Forever has no realms. You choose a region as usual, then a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplay or Hardcore); everyone on that ruleset in your region shares one world. See Getting started.

Can I play with friends on another ruleset? Not in dungeons or raids: grouping is limited to your own ruleset, and Hardcore is fully separate. Factions remain separate too.

Money, boosts and trading

Can I sell boosts (dungeon carries, levelling) for real money? No. Selling in-game services for real money is real-money trading (RMT) and is prohibited by Blizzard's End User License Agreement. Penalties range from gold removal to account suspension or closure.

Can I sell boosts for gold? Yes, individually. Blizzard's 2022 boosting policy bans organized boosting communities that advertise or operate across realms, and advertising boosts in chat is restricted, but a player or guild selling a run for in-game gold is allowed.

Can I sell items or gold for real money? No — same RMT rule. Trading items for gold in-game is of course fine; so is the in-game Auction House.

Can I buy gold? Buying gold from third parties is RMT and gets accounts actioned. Whether the WoW Token (buy game time, sell it for gold) will exist in Forever has not been announced; it does not exist on Classic Era or Anniversary realms today.

Are GDKP runs allowed? Blizzard banned GDKP (gold-bid loot runs) in Season of Discovery in 2024 and again on the Classic Anniversary realms, citing its link to RMT. Nothing has been announced for Forever yet. Given the recent precedent, expect it to be prohibited; we'll update this the moment Blizzard confirms either way.

Can I trade my account or characters? No. Account sharing and selling are against the EULA.

Playing

Are addons allowed? Yes, with the same limits as the rest of WoW: addons can read and display information and customize the UI, but cannot automate gameplay. Automation software and bots are bannable. See our addons section once builds exist for the Forever client.

Can I multibox? Multiboxing with separate inputs is tolerated; input broadcasting software (one keypress sent to several clients) has been banned since 2020.

Controller support? Official gamepad support ships at launch.

Can I turn off other players' transmog? Yes — transmog is opt-in on both sides. See Look & feel.

Faction change, race change, name change, server transfer? Not announced for Forever.

Do dungeon drops unlock transmog for everyone? Yes — a bind-on-pickup item dropping in a dungeon grants its appearance to every eligible looter. Raids are excluded.

How do mounts work? Like in Burning Crusade: the cost moves to training the riding skill, the mount itself is cheap.
